Product Update: Changes to Rescanning Behavior
We are changing how full rescans work on the Aqua platform, effective in Update 13.
What's changing
Previously, full rescans of registered images could be triggered automatically in certain flows. Starting with U13, full rescan is now a manual process.
This means:
• Automatic full rescans will no longer occur in the background
• You can still trigger a full rescan manually at any time through the UI or API
• Incremental scanning of new images continues as normal
Why we're making this change
Automatic full rescans can create significant system load and cost, particularly in large environments. By making full rescans a manual, deliberate action, you have more control over when they run and can schedule them during appropriate maintenance windows.
What you need to do
Please ensure your scanners are upgraded to the latest version — upgrading all scanners to the latest version will ensure consistent scan behaviour across your environment.
If your workflow depends on periodic full rescans to keep vulnerability data fresh across all registered images, you should plan to trigger full rescans manually on a schedule that suits your operational needs.
If you have any questions about how these changes affect your environment, or would like help reviewing your configuration, please don’t hesitate to ask your account representative or Aqua Support (support@aquasec.com).
