Introduction

Aqua supports multiple concurrent Enterprise software licenses.

  • Each license can apply to one or more individual Aqua products, specifying the usage limits for each. See Product usage limits.
  • Software licenses can have different licensing periods, which can overlap. The Licenses screen shows the licensing period for each license, and the aggregate product usage limits for the active licenses (those currently in effect).

This topic describes how to view, add, and delete your Aqua Security software licenses.

The Aqua Dynamic Threat Analysis feature license is configured separately, under Workload Protection > Settings > Dynamic Threat Analysis.

Product usage limits

An Aqua license can specify one or more of the following:

  • The maximum number of Aqua Enforcers, MicroEnforcers, and VM Enforcers you can deploy
  • Kubernetes Security: see Kubernetes Security licensing below
  • Repositories: The maximum number of image repositories
  • Functions: the maximum number of serverless functions you can scan; you can scan each function as many times as you want
  • Advanced Functions: the maximum number of serverless functions you can provide runtime protection for; you can run each function as many times as you want
  • Information pertaining to Tanzu (formerly CF (Cloud Foundry) application instances; this license has two components:
    • The maximum number of Tanzu (CF) application instances that Aqua can support simultaneously
    • Support level: Basic (application scanning only) or Advanced (application scanning and runtime protection)
  • vShield: This functionality requires its own product license. "Active" indicates that this license is present.
  • Advanced Malware Protection: This feature requires its product license. "Active" indicates that this license is present.

Kubernetes Security licensing

See Kubernetes Security Features per License for a complete description of the Kubernetes Security license type.

The number (usage limit) associated with this license is the number of nodes that can be protected at any given time.

View your Aqua Security software license information

In the Aqua UI: Navigate to Account Management > Licenses & Plans > Enterprise Licenses

You will see a screen like this; both active licenses have been expanded (as discussed below) to show their product usage limits:

Aqua Enterprise version

The upper right of the screen shows the version of the Aqua Enterprise deployment (2022.4.131, in the screenshot above).

License Details (header)

This summarizes the number of licenses installed, identifying the number that are active, expired, and pending (not reached their start date) licenses.

If there are any active licenses due to expire within 30 days, their number is shown as "about to expire".

License details table

The table includes one row for each license.

  • The Products column shows the number of products included in each license; clicking the ">" symbol to the left of the license name will show you the maximum number of products entitled by the license.
  • The license Type is Annual, Marketplace, or POC.

The table can be sorted by Status, Start Date, Expiration Date, or Type.

Active Licensed Products

This shows the sum of the product usage limits of all active licenses. This is the calculation per the screenshot above; note that License A (expired) and License D (pending) are not included:
